I have been volunteering at the Napa Valley Film Festival for 3 years now. I remember when I first visited St. Helena. I was walking down the street and passed the Model Bakery. When I walked in I saw a framed page from the Oprah magazine with a title ‘Oprah’s Favorite Things!’
I soon found out why is this bakery so popular. They make English muffins from scratch (besides other baked goodies). These muffins are soft with a grainy surface. I first ordered one with butter so I could taste it on its own. The next day, I tried the egg and sausage breakfast sandwich on English muffin. From then on, I’ve never had it any other way. The sandwich is made with pepperjack cheese and red pepper aioli. It’s buttery and mildly spicy. I go back to the bakery every year during the festival to start my day with a delicious substantial breakfast. And I always take a few muffins with me back to New York. I’m surprised they haven’t gotten confiscated at the airport yet!
